Back in 1969, as a 16-year-old with dreams of being a shoemaker, Oliver Sweeney ran away to to do just that. After two decades learning his craft from some of the best bespoke shoemakers in the business, he decided to go it alone, founded his eponymous business, and went on to be one of the great maverick shoe designers of his generation.
In 2021, it was time for Oliver Sweeney’s online presence to be resoled and replatformed. Its ecommerce store was on Magento, but a refocus on digital over bricks and mortar stores meant a : the stability of the new platform, combined with the ease of editing products and website content were key. The strong partner ecosystem also ticked a lot of boxes for creating the right functionality.
Fobkisco worked with Oliver Sweeney to design and build a modern store on the Plus platform which, while continuing to reflect its heritage, enables it to sell its products and service offerings more effectively.

Because Oliver Sweeney is an international brand, ESC included a shoe size and currency changer in the build. This enables instant updating of the local currency and variant sizes for customers, resulting in an intelligent, seamless and global experience.
Not only is it a better experience for customers, the new site on Plus is also a better experience for the Oliver Sweeney ecommerce team, giving them an easy-to-use solution - ESC designed it to give the team complete control over its look and feel, including colours, fonts, and template layouts when creating new pages.
ESC took a UX-led approach to the re-imagining, providing fresh new designs for the ecommerce store. Developing the website from start to finish, Fobkisco also integrated key applications to produce a scalable and powerful platform, with the user experience always front and centre.
The Shopify Partner and app ecosystem allows for the enhancement of stores to create a unique shopping experience, depending on merchant needs. For Oliver Sweeney, several services were integrated to the new site to augment functionality, including a product filter and site search solution to help shoppers find the products more easily, customer service software to give customers the best support, and an integration for AI-powered customer insight and cross-channel marketing.
